Solubility: Extremely soluble in water, exothermic when dissolved, aqueous solution is strongly acidic (pH≈1, 1% aqueous solution).

Stability: Stable at room temperature; decomposes at high temperatures to produce toxic gases (e.g., sulfur dioxide).

Corrosiveness: Strongly corrosive, irritating to skin, eyes and mucous membranes.
